A Place to PLAY
At A Place to Play, we offer a play-based program for children aged 2.5 - 5 years old. Our program focuses on free play, where teachers encourage sharing, cooperation, creativity, imagination, and having fun.
We offer a Morning Program that runs from 9:00am - 11:45am, and an Extended Day Program that runs from 9:00am - 2:30pm. Each program has the flexibility of a 2-day (Tues/Thurs), 3-day (Mon/Wed/Fri) or 5-day option.
Our classroom can accommodate 16 children, with 8 children in the Morning Program, and 8 children in the Extended Day Program. In accordance with our license, two Morning Program spaces can be allocated to children 2 - 2.5 years old.
A Typical Day
Children spend time with theme-based play, guided activities, arts & crafts, and free play. Every week teachers choose a different theme to focus on, such as "emotions", "music", or "senses" and the toys, books, crafts, and activities are rotated to reflect the theme.
Teachers lead science experiments and STEM projects that encourage observation, problem solving and collaboration. Children are provided opportunities for practicing handwriting and learning basic math skills.
Circle time includes fun songs with movement and actions, and a chance for "show and share", where the child whose family is on snack duty shares something special they've brought from home.
Every day includes 30 minutes of active play in our fantastic outdoor space. In bad weather, children play inside our spacious gym. The school is well-equipped with many toys for active play, including tricycles, balls, tents, shovels, sleds and plasma cars.
